Dunedin Venues Management Ltd (DVML) is home to the most sophisticated and versatile event facilities in southern New Zealand.  Its portfolio includes the world class Forsyth Barr Stadium, the majestic Dunedin Centre which is a multi-purpose entertainment, conference and events hub, and turf management of the University of Otago Oval where local and international cricket matches are held.

We have an awesome opportunity for someone to join our dynamic team in the role of Events Assistant based at the Dunedin Centre.

THE ROLE:

With a stellar and intensifying line-up of entertainment and corporate events across the DVML managed venues, this is a role which will see the successful applicant working in an innovative and dynamic workplace.  Reporting through to the Events Manager in our Business Events Team, and based at the Dunedin Centre, this position is the first point of contact for DVML’s clients and the public attending the Dunedin Centre and is responsible for:

 

  • Providing exceptional customer service by phone, email or in person in response to a wide range of queries
  • Providing outstanding assistance to the events team including event administration duties, responding to initial event inquiries, developing event proposals and issuing contracts, plan and deliver some low risk events when required
  • Completing general administrative duties, including some financial administrative duties such as completing quotes and raising purchase orders

This is a full-time permanent role which requires lots of flexibility in your approach to working hours.  While some days you might be rostered on 8:30am-5pm there are lots of other times you’ll need to be available to work on weekend days, start earlier and work into the evening to meet event and client requirements. 

 ABOUT YOU: 

We are looking someone who has a minimum of 2 years experience in an administration, customer service or support role within a commercial workplace.  Along with this you will have:

  • Proven experience working with Microsoft Office (ideally with Office 365), and be a guru in word and outlook, and experienced with excel
  • A positive, friendly and professional customer service ethos and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Awesome written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to listen well
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail, you'll be the person who spots and fixes mistakes
  • Good with numbers, you'll be able to prepare quotes and invoices
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to successfully juggle multiple priorities 
  • Flexible approach, with the ability to work hours that fit with events (when required)
