Dunedin Venues Management Ltd (DVML) is home to the most sophisticated and versatile event facilities in southern New Zealand.  Its portfolio includes the world class Forsyth Barr Stadium, the majestic Dunedin Centre which is a multi-purpose entertainment, conference and events hub, and turf management of the University of Otago Oval where local and international cricket matches are held.

We have an awesome opportunity for someone to join our dynamic team in the role of Accountant.


With a stellar and intensifying line-up of entertainment and corporate events across the DVML managed venues, this is a role which will see the successful applicant fully immersed in a truly dynamic workplace.  Reporting through to our Finance Manager, the Accountant is responsible for:


  • Timely and accurate completion of month end processing, and preparation of monthly financial reporting.
  • Traditional finance tasks including GST and FBT compliance and filing of returns, bank reconciliations, maintaining the fixed asset register, bank deposits and responding to finance related enquiries.
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with quarterly and annual financial processes such as re-forecasting, audits, preparation of the budget, annual reports and statement of accounts.
  • Project work relating to the finance function.

This is a permanent full time (40 hours per week) position.  


We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running which means you will already have a minimum of three years experience in the areas this role is responsible for.   Along with this you will:


  • Have a good working knowledge of financial processes, accounting standards and reporting requirements, ideally this will have been obtained within a commercial work environment.
  • Be IT Savvy and an advanced user of the Microsoft Suite (especially in excel, word and database management).
  • Be positive and happy, and thrive working in a team environment.
  • Be able to work well under pressure and manage your time so that you maintain high levels of accuracy and deliver to agreed time frames, even when juggling multiple priorities.
  • Ideally you'll also love process improvement, be solutions focused, tech savvy and able to understand and leverage different systems to enhance efficiencies.
